Johny Joseph (b. 1952) is the Municipal Commissioner of Mumbai. He took over the post on 29 February 2004. As head of the country's richest civic corporation he is vested with vast executive powers to take care of the city's infrastructure such as roads, registration of births and deaths, running of municipal schools, flyovers, sewage, water, The head of the corporation is the titular mayor, but in effect he has little powers. Joseph was the Maharashtra's Chief Secretary to the Chief Minister before the state government granted him the post of the civic chief. He is an IAS officer.
